Keep Working as long as you can!

In my case it was "forced retirement" so to speak!  Illness overtook my mind and body and rendered both useless to do any "meaningful" or "gainful" employment.  The Social Security Judge asked the Rehab Counselor at my hearing if I could do the work I had been doing for most of my life.  The counselor replied no!
The Judge then asked the counselor if I could do any similar work in the workplace and again the answer from the counselor was no!  The next question was could I do any work of any kind and once again the answer from the counselor was no!  I thought for sure the Judge was going to ask the counselor next is he a "fluke" of the universe and has no right to be here?

With that and after two years I was awarded full Disability benefits!
So in other words forced retirement! Not complaining, as I did work many years and paid into that system.  I do not think of this as an entitlement, but an insurance policy that I paid into.

I worked in the same profession for over 35 years and actually enjoyed my chosen career!  I would much rather be working than not, and so I try to write when I can, that is can think and not be sleeping, which I seem to do most of the day.

So what I'm saying is if you are healthy and nearing that age of retirement, don't!  Keep working until the mind and body gives out. Look around at the companies you are familiar with, how many CEO's died shortly after retirement?  Actually how many people that retired died in a short time after that.

What happens I believe is that your mind and body is addicted to the work, like smoking (which I don't do) and continues to crave it even if it harms you until you quit.  Or any other habit, especially one that you enjoy!

Let me know your thoughts?
